Tony's Summary

I am at my best when I am serving others, helping them achieve their goals, and solving their problems. When I talk to my customers, to my stakeholders, I ask them to dream big. I ask them to tell me their story and then I tell them to imagine what they could achieve without any barriers or limits. I then design solutions that are simple yet effective. Throughout my career, regardless of industry, where I have been successful has been in building connections across various complex interests in order to achieve their desired goals. This has meant being a technology evangelist, with a deep understanding of business operations, which has been the key to my leadership success. "It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end." – Ursula K. Le Guin In 2013 I was wondering how many states I had not visited (it was 37). So I set out to visit all of them by the end of 2016, adding myself to the list of people who have visited all 50 states. On average, I had to visit one state about every five weeks in order to complete my ambitious goal. Yes, I did end up achieving my goal. This was more than a segmented vacation. In each state that I visited, I identified a local charity and visited each one to learn more about what they did to support their communities. That was coupled with either an in-kind donation or volunteering my time for a few hours with each charity. My journey taught me a great deal about so many things, including myself. When I started my journey, I did not really know what to expect in terms of the lessons that would be drawn from it. The biggest lesson I learned is also the most simplest lesson of all. If there was one theme to all of my visits to all of those different charities, it would be how far a simple voice of support can go to make a difference.
