He has served as Mayor of Boulder, Colorado since November 2019 and has been a Member of Boulder City Council since 2013. Sam is actively involved in the Colorado clean technology and business communities, having previously co-founded one other Colorado-based company, Colorado Photonics. Sam holds a B.S. from the California Institute of Technology, and is an inventor named on thirty-three issued U.S. patents. Sam has held prior professional positions with the University of Colorado at Boulder, Network Photonics, Colorado Photonics, In Phase Technologies, and dBm Optics.
