He has deep experience in profit & loss reporting (P&L), financial strategy, forecasting & budgeting, revenue cycle, pricing, government reimbursement, provider contracting, claims administration, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), due diligence, turnarounds, rapid cycle improvement, litigation support and business intelligence (BI). Rick is the founder and chief executive of Managed Care Business Solutions (MCBS). MCBS assists organizations in improving the value of healthcare services. Prior to forming MCBS, Rick served as Chief Financial Officer for Kaiser Permanente Colorado during which time he was responsible for finance, accounting, actuarial services, claims, revenue cycle, provider contracting, materials management and data support services for a $3.7 billion managed care organization serving 665,000 members with over 1,000 physicians and 6,000 staff in 32 facilities. He led re-designs of claims and patient billing. He guided improvements in finance and decision support. He led financial due diligence of a potential acquisition. He assisted in the financing of a new hospital, turnaround activities in other regions, and medical group negotiations in multiple regions. Prior experience includes consulting positions at DELOITTE CONSULTING (New York, NY) and ERNST & YOUNG (Los Angeles, CA). Assisted healthcare, manufacturing and service companies in planning, mergers, financings, litigation support, bankruptcy, technology selections & operational improvements.
