Having recently assumed the position of Chief Transformation Officer at Western Union, my role is to steward the Company through the implementation of its new global strategy, designed to drive improved efficiency, profitability and long-term revenue growth. I am passionate about the challenge ahead to help guide the future state for this global leader in cross-border money transfer and payment services, operating in over 200 countries and territories, and with a 168 year heritage. I served as Chief Compliance Officer from 2016 to July 2019, transitioning to the Global Head of Compliance in July 2019. I was responsible for strategic planning and leadership of Western Union’s Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Terrorist Financing, Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption, Sanctions, Fraud and Consumer Protection compliance programs globally. I led a global team of over 2,000 professionals ensuring compliance coverage of business lines, legal entities, geographies and subject matters. In my twenty years of experience as an attorney and compliance officer, I have had the opportunity to lead large international teams in the successful development of global AML programs across multiple jurisdictions and have represented numerous Fortune 500 companies in complex legal and regulatory matters across the globe. I also serve as Board Chair of the Western Union Foundation, an organization that supports education and disaster relief efforts as pathways toward a better future. Since its inception in 2001, the Foundation has funded more than $120 million in 137 countries, benefiting 940,000 people. As a former schoolteacher and principal, I strongly believe that education is the surest pathway to economic opportunity and has set education as the primary mission of the Western Union Foundation. I also proudly serve as a board member of the Denver Public Schools Foundation.
