In my current position as a Senior Revenue Compliance Auditor I work to ensure the hospital is in compliance with the various Medicare and Medicaid requirements for documentation, coding, and billing. I audit all aspect of the revenue cycle for the hospital and associated clinics. A major component of my role is to manage and respond the various external financial audits. I track and manage governmental Recovery Audit Contractors (RAC) audits. I write the appeals to denial letters from these audits. My previous almost 30 years’ experience in Medical Coding and Health Information Management has provided me with an excellent foundation. I began my career as a coder, and I've managed a large diverse staff of onsite and offsite coders. I strive for excellence, and I have aimed to develop each of my staff to achieve excellence. I emphasize proven techniques of performance improvement and organizational development. I'm a certified ICD-10 trainer, and continue to research the reimbursement and downstream implications of the implementation of this code set. My professional credentials are RHIA, CCDS, CHDA, CCS, and CPC.
