Alan's Summary

Alan is an entrepreneur who exited a startup he co-founded in 2014 in December of 2020. Alan currently works with startups working on initial funding. The COVID-19 pandemic inspired application of the Vesmir map-based approach to global health. Alan has consulted on structural constraints to carbon sequestration and studies various alternative approaches for transitioning to a more sustainable energy mix. Alan is a geoscientist who has developed resource plays on three continents, and has created PetroDE, a cloud-based system for opportunity identification and statistical valuation of oil & gas plays. He developed key metrics & scoring methods for identifying core shale play acreage and applied the method to the Eagle Ford, Marcellus, Utica, and Barnett shale systems, greatly simplifying acreage evaluation. Prior to focusing on resource plays, Alan explored for conventional resources for Shell E&P from California to the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Alan received a B.S. in Geophysical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, and has more than 30 years of experience in the oil & gas business.
